POMOR at the International Arctic Forum in Saint Petersburg

Dr. Heidemarie Kassens and Dr. Nadezhda Kakhro participated in the 5th International Arctic Forum held in Saint Petersburg on April 9-10, 2019. Dr. Kassens was invited  speaker during the session “Arctic reseacher´s dialogue”. In her talk, she presented the Russian-German research project the Changing Arctic Transpolar System (CATS), the Otto Schmidt Laboratory for Polar and Marine Research and the Master Program Polar and Marine Sciences POMOR.

According to ROSCONGRESS, the International Arctic Forum brought together more than 3,600 participants from the political, scientific, and business communities, as well as public representatives and leading media outlets from Russia and around the world. The number of countries represented increased markedly compared to the last time the Forum was held – from 31 in 2017 to 52 in 2019. The Forum was attended by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö, President of Iceland Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson, Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Anders Samuelsen, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide.
