POMOR field practices 2018, Exciting Summer Opportunities

This year POMOR students are participating in a wide variety of interesting and exciting expedtions in the Arctic Ocean. Yana,Valentina, Ksenia and Nadezhda are currently abord the Russian research vessel Akademik Tryoshnikov in the Laptev See with the TRANSDRIFT XXIV Expedition (Project The Changing Arctic Transpolar System). The research vessel has arrived on site by now and the scientific program is well under way. Our students will take part in the collection of scientific data from the ocean, preform experiments and help their fellow scientists. The chief scientists for the expedition is Dr. H. Kassens (GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel).

But this not the only expedition this summer with POMOR students. In August-September Cynthia and Elena take part in the Polarstern Expetition 115/2 off the coast of Greenland and arrive back in Bremerhaven for their semester in Germany in the beginning of October. The chief scientist is Dr. R. Stein (Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research), who will directly supervise our students on this voyage. We wish them all the best on this unique experience.

Furthermore Farida will is in the National Institute of Oceanography, Dona Paula, State of Goa India on here field practice, what an opportunity! Dmitrii is currently at the GEOMAR centre in Kiel and Marieke will complete her practice in Bremen in September. Maria is at the Institute for Advance Sustainability Studies in Potsdam and Daria is currently at the Alfred Wegner Institute Potsdam. Finally Alejandro and Inga are completing their field practices in St. Petersburg at the St. Petersburg State University.
