POMOR Master Award – impressions of the festive ceremony

The POMOR Master Award 2021 took place on October 25, 2021 at Saint Petersburg State University (see the program here). 20 graduates from 2021 were awarded a Master Degree of Saint Petersburg State University (SPbU) and a Master of Science of Hamburg University (UHH). The event was carried out in a blended format, in person and with online streaming. Graduates who are not in Saint Petersburg, lecturers from Russia and Germany and some special guests participated via ZOOM.

In the festive ceremony participated Marina Lavrikova, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of SPbU, Sergey Andryushin, Vice Rector for International Affairs of SPbU, Kirill Chistyakov, Director of the Institute of Earth Sciences, Susanne Fretzdorff from the German Ministry for Education and Research, Ute Katzsch-Egli from the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Sergey Aplonov, Director of the Arctic Research Center of SPbU, POMOR PIs at the SPBU and UHH Georgy Cherkashov and Christian Beer, Heidemarie Kassens and Nadezhda Kakhro from GEOMAR. Program PIs and special guests congratulated the graduates and addressed many cordial words to them and to the program. After all certificates were handed out, Anastasia Ovchinnikova addressed the audience on behalf of the graduates 2021.

We congratulate all graduates 2021 and thank them for being tough, patient and flexible in these turbulent times, we wish them all the best on their way and invite to join our POMOR Alumni club.

We thank all lecturers, examiners, supervisors and reviewers, Saint Petersburg State University, Hamburg University, Universities of Bremen, Kiel and Potsdam, Hamburg University of Technology, Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research, GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemuende, All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources of the World Ocean named after Academician I.S. Gramberg, Otto Schmidt Laboratory for Polar and Marine Research, Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and the whole POMOR community for their great support.
